Session 1 - Medication Assistance for Alcohol Disorder (AUD)
Presenter - Cynthia Baker, MSN, APRN, PMHMP-BC, FNP-BC

This presentation will review the DSM-V Criteria for diagnosis of AUD and discuss cravings, symptoms, and phenomena. It will review medication-assisted treatment, as well as adjunct medications for anxiety, insomnia, and irritability. Emerging treatments, the importance of counseling and peer support, and abstinence versus decreased use will be discussed.

Session 2 - Pain Management in the Older Adult
Presenter - Nicole Genovese, PharmD, BCGP

This presentation will discuss pain assessment, integrative pain management, and focus on medication for pain management that requires additional consideration in an older adult population. It will also provide several resources that any care team member can use to ensure all patients, especially older adults, receive safe medication therapies for pain. For completeness, opioid safety recommendations will briefly be reviewed.

Politics & Healthcare: Where is Nursing?

This session provides a brief historical overview of nursing's role in policy and politics, then delves into present time.  Topics for discussion will include policy challenges for nurses, advocacy, board service, political awareness and local involvement of nurses in both policy and politics.

The Silent Struggle: Depression in the Black Nursing Community
