Though these sessions focus on APRN practice, all RN's are invited to attend.
Session 1 - Medication Assistance for Alcohol Disorder (AUD) This presentation will review the DSM-V Criteria for diagnosis of AUD and discuss cravings, symptoms, and phenomena. It will review medication-assisted treatment, as well as adjunct medications for anxiety, insomnia, and irritability. Emerging treatments, the importance of counseling and peer support, and abstinence versus decreased use will be discussed. | Session 2 - Pain Management in the Older Adult This presentation will discuss pain assessment, integrative pain management, and focus on medication for pain management that requires additional consideration in an older adult population. It will also provide several resources that any care team member can use to ensure all patients, especially older adults, receive safe medication therapies for pain. For completeness, opioid safety recommendations will briefly be reviewed. |
